Positive balance of the IK energy efficiency network
Since 2017, the IK has been supporting the Energy Efficiency Networks initiative together with 22 associations and organisations of the German economy, BMWi and BMU. In autumn 2017, the IK’s own energy efficiency network was launched with 18 participating companies. In June 2020, the ninth and last meeting of the first IK energy efficiency network took place. For the participants, the participation in the network was a complete success – 83% of the companies are very satisfied with the work.
During the 3-year period, 16,318 MWh of energy p.a. or 8,846 t of CO2 p.a. were saved within the network – with the help of technologies from the areas of process heat, compressed air, lighting, refrigeration, process technology, heat recovery/waste heat utilisation, air conditioning, transport and logistics, among others. A fabulous result!
We would like to thank all the companies for their exemplary commitment to energy efficiency and climate protection.
The future of the network
Since the end of 2020, the network will continue under the umbrella of the Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie e.V. (GKV). To this end, the first meeting with many old acquaintances from the IK energy efficiency network already took place in October 2020.
Companies with lower CO2 emissions can benefit from participation not only through cost savings, but also especially in brand perception. Membership in the network and the results of the meetings can be used in the context of audits according to ISO 50001 and for corporate communication.
